Awesome 4x4ing!

Oh today was so much fun! We went four wheeling with a bunch of friends. Three we knew the other three we didn’t, so we had fun and made new friends!

This has been planned for about a month now and even though we didn’t get to the planned area we were hoping to we sure had a blast trying!

There was our big brute truck, Samson. Then our friends Jeep, a brand-new pick up truck and a diesel truck. So you have four trucks heading up the muddy mucky road trying to head to about the fifty-seven kilometer mark. I think we made it up to about the twenty three kilometer mark before we hit snow that was so deep that we ended up winching ourselves out of the snow. We were driving and slid off the road and no matter how hard we tried we just kept on sliding further and further away from the road and there was a steep embankment that was there so we had to be careful! The guy in the brand new pick up truck stopped and made sure we were ok. This would not of been a trip for my mom (read the previous posts about that LOL) she would have been shitting so many bricks we could have built a village LOL

Anyway we winched our way out and got back on the road and into the tracks when the first two trucks came back down and to find us and let us know that we were turning around as it was too deep to go any further! So, while hubby backed down the snowy road to turn around, the Jeep and the diesel truck had a tug of war in the snow to see who was stronger! The Ford Diesel F250 won that battle! I would have video taped it but my batteries died and hubby and the truck were way down the road at this time. I did get a few pictures of the trucks, I will post a few here and then I will post a link to the video of all the pictures so you can choose which you would like to see, plus the page will load quicker!

Anyway, as I said we had to turn around and head back down to another area that we often go 4x4ing to, but no one except hubby and I knew where to go so we were leading. We were cruising through the mud and puddles and I pointed out that he was passing the entrance LOL slamming on brakes on mud makes you slide… go figure! So we told two of the four trucks to turn and we drove up a bit more and took a steep bank to the road and one of the guys followed us LOL I think he was just about shitting because the angle you come down onto the road is so steep it feels like you are going to stand the truck up on its end!

Anyway, we made it down to the campsite after crossing a few fast flowing rivers and creeks and there was no one down their except an elderly couple that were just packing up their Jeep and left. We had the whole beach and area to ourselves! We chose a spot that had a picnic table but we never used it LOL we stood around the fire and some of the people cooked hot dogs but I didn’t! I had my faithful chicken sandwiches on brown bread which I KNOW I can have!

The beer was flowing (not excessively but there was beer being consumed) and everyone was just having a great time! It was one of the funnest (that’s not a word according to spell check!) days that hubby and I have spent 4x4ing. We normally go out by ourselves because we don’t know anyone that likes the rough 4x4ing that we do. We go up and down riverbeds, rock crawling and mudding in the truck and most people think just heading on a dirt road is 4x4 when it isn’t. Now we know where some other people are that have the same interests as we do!

On the way up there, there is this huge puddle that is known as “The Car Wash” and for good reason… it is deep and wide and full of water. Well the Jeep was near the puddle while the driver was trying to wash off some of the mud off the window. Hubby said he would help him and drove his truck through the puddle and covered the Jeep with dirty water LOL (See picture below)

It was a blast and there will be many more 4x4 outings this year as we now have two 4x4s and friends that love to use their trucks for what they were made for … breaking LOL

Samson stuck in the snow bank!

The outhouse at the campsite! Read the sign below!

If you have ever been in an outhouse like this then you would know that spending 14 seconds in one of these is too long LOL

This is hubby splashing our friends Jeep in a puddle called “The Carwash”
