Today was rainy and I had to wake up early because I had a doctor’s appointment. I wasn’t feeling like walking in the rain but it did clear up a bit by the time I came out of the doctors so we went for a walk.
Manda and I went on our usual walk but this time we had company, and not an ordinary type of company either. When we first got to the cemetery there was a Robin hopping on the fence next to where I park. I didn’t think anything of it at first, but then it didn’t move when we opened the truck doors nor did it fly away when we walked to the start of the path.
I just thought it was too lazy to fly away but apparently it was just a friendly Robin that was happy to see us. The Robin was not the only one to accompany us on our walk around the cemetery either, there was a squirrel that was running behind us and darting in between the trees and the flowers.
Normally there are plenty of wild animals around there but they scatter when people come close to them, so it was kind of cute that we had two escorts while on our walk today. If I had taken my camera with me, like I was going to, then I would have taken a picture of them to show you; maybe they will be there tomorrow and I can take a picture of them to show you.
The other item on my things to do list was write up a door prize donation request letter so that I can hand it out to local businesses to see if they would like to donate to one of the local Geocaching events that I have planned for May of this year.
Its more work than most people think it is as I have to phone or email a few big companies to see if they will donate anything and then go from there. You have to hit the big companies up first so that you know what you need to aim for from other places.
I am always on the look out for free promo items to hand out or other things to give away as door prizes, so if you know of anywhere that would like to donate something please email me and let me know!
I am organizing a clean up event of some of our local areas where people throw garbage on the ground instead of in the garbage cans. In 2009 we had two clean up events and picked up 700kgs of trash from two small parks. In 2010 we picked up 3040kgs from one Forest Service Road and one small park. This year we are trying to top last years amount and to get more volunteers out you need to entice them with door prizes, well some of them anyway!
So, tomorrow I will be out most of the day handing out the letters to stores and businesses in hopes that they have some old promo materials (key chains, pens, pencils etc) that they would like to donate so I can either make up goodie bags for the kids or give as door prizes.
Good job I love driving and really love driving my new truck!
So, that’s how my day has been, how was yours? Did you have any odd company follow you around today? Oh and by odd I mean the animal kingdom variety not the weirdo/freak type LOL
